More than one and a half million people have watched this little video, and it’s one of the simplest things you can make in an air fryer. Oats, milk and two eggs go straight into a foil tray, you mix them with a fork, top them with fruit and nuts and bake. 25 minutes later you have a soft oatmeal cake you can cut into slices.
It’s like baked oats, but firm enough to eat with your hands. Breakfast, a snack for the kids, or something to take to work.
What you need
- Rolled oats and milk. Any milk works, including plant milk.
- Two eggs. They hold the cake together.
- A little sugar and a little white vinegar.
- Toppings: blueberries plus whatever dried fruit and nuts you like. The video uses almonds, pumpkin seeds and raisins.
- A round foil tray that fits in your air fryer basket.

Notes
The video doesn’t measure the oats, milk, sugar or vinegar. The oats cover the bottom of the tray, and the milk is poured over until they are moistened. If you want a starting point, try about one cup of oats to one cup of milk for two eggs.
Mixing in the foil tray means there’s nothing else to wash.
Ways to change it
- Swap the blueberries for raspberries, chopped apple or banana slices.
- Use honey instead of sugar.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon to the mix.
Questions people ask
What temperature do you bake oatmeal in an air fryer?
This cake bakes at 160°C (320°F) for 25 minutes. The lower temperature lets the middle set before the top burns.
Can I make it without a foil tray?
Yes. Any small oven-safe dish that fits in your basket works. A silicone mould is easy to clean.
