What makes it “one pot”
The meatballs are browned in a deep pan, the tomato sauce is built around them, and then the dry spaghetti goes straight into the same pan with hot water and cooks in the sauce. The pasta releases its starch as it cooks, so the sauce thickens and clings to every strand, and there is no separate pot of pasta to drain.
