A small dessert that looks festive enough for a dinner party and uses oranges you can’t finish. The oranges become the cups: you cut off the tops, scoop them out and fill them with a simple custard of eggs, milk and sugar. The air fryer bakes it gently, and the orange peel gives the custard its flavour.

Air Fryer Orange Pudding
Egg and milk custard baked inside hollowed oranges at 150°C for 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Method
- Cut the top off each orange.
- Scoop out the pulp so you are left with an empty orange cup.
- Add two eggs to a bowl, then 120 ml of milk and one spoon of sugar per person. Stir evenly.
- Pour the egg mixture into the oranges. 80% full is enough.
- Put them in the air fryer and bake at 150°C (302°F) for 30 minutes.

Notes
The video measures with an ordinary spoon rather than a measuring spoon. A tablespoon is a fair stand-in.
Don’t throw away the pulp. Squeeze it for juice, or eat it with the pudding.
Fill the oranges only 80% full. The custard rises a little as it bakes.
Tips
- Choose oranges that stand upright, or slice a thin piece off the bottom so they don’t tip over.
- Low and slow. 150°C keeps the custard smooth. Higher heat makes it bubble and split.
- Serve warm or cold. It firms up in the fridge.
Questions people ask
What does orange pudding taste like?
Like a soft baked custard with a fresh orange flavour from the peel. Sweet but light.
Can I use a different fruit?
Grapefruit halves or large lemons work the same way. Lemons need a little more sugar.
