Dutch Baby Origins

When you think of pancakes, what comes to mind? For many people around the world, it’s an image that will always involve syrup and butter. But in Seattle during this time period between 1900-1930s, there was one specific type being made which had nothing at all with its traditional counterparts: Dutch Baby Pancakes! In fact, they were first invented by Victor Manca while he owned a cafe called ‘Mancas’ back then but adapted from German Apple pastries due to their similarities; giving us our favorite dessert today known globally simply “Dutch Babies.”
